Over the past month, God has continually showed us that one of the ways he intends to bless us is through the generosity of others. God promises to always make our burdens light, AND he is teaching us that sometimes he chooses to lighten our load through the support of others.
Now...I have to be honest about something. I am not always good at letting others help me. In our over-bearing "me" centered culture, I often find myself believing in the lie that says if I truly want to overcome any obstacle it is up to me and me alone. The lie that says all I have to do is work harder or work smarter and the world will be mine! The lie that says if I don't achieve a goal it is because I wasn't good enough.
But the truth is this...while our culture makes a celebrity out of our independence, placing our individualism on a pedistol to be worshiped by all. God, in his sovereignty, places the highest value on community and dependence. Dependence on HIM for our provision. Provision that he chooses to supply through community. We were meant to live with one another, to love one another, to serve one another and to let others help us so that we ultimately rely on HIM alone.
With just one email, God began changing my perspective on HIS provision for our adoption needs..
Elizabeth Wilkerson (then a stranger now a friend), read my story on this here blog and decided to take the time out and send me an email. She wanted to encourage me in our adoption journey and remind me that God is faithful.

Moriah means "God Provides," quite fitting don't ya think?
Elizabeth and her husband generously gave us a gift towards the financial cost of our adoption. Their unexpected blessing in our lives is serving as OUR reminder that God provides. He provides for us and he will provide for you!
Elizabeth's offer of support and friendship opened our eyes to a path we might never have taken if left to our own ways. God was calling us to reach out...to reach out to HIS community and rely on others for help. In turn we are confident that God alone will provide for all of our needs to grow our family.
And while we may feel weird to ask what we are about to ask, we are choosing to let God's WAY refresh us like a cool stream in an otherwise parched land.
So with hearts that boast only in God, we ask....Will you help us?
Will you consider partnering with us to bring
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it with good things, declares the Lord. (Psalm 81:10)
We are presently and actively believing God to make good on his word. Our little family of three will soon be four or more. Thank you for helping HIM provide blessings we knew not to even ask for!
If you are in the midst of collecting money for your adoption or you are thinking about adopting I hope you will find encouragement in our story. He wants to do the same for you. Please drop me a note, I would love to meet you.
"His unchanging plan has always been to ADOPT us into His family, by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure."
Ephesians 1:5
