Everything is a race
I race to get my house decorated
I race to teach my daughter
Race to the store, race to get dinner on the table
Why all this racing around?
But then I think….racing itself isn’t bad. All these blogs and books imploring women not to race, that seems extreme. We are forgetting that we were made to race. We are all runners yearning to feel the wind on our faces and to bathe in the satisfaction of crossing the finish line.
Maybe racing isn’t bad, it’s what we are racing for that causes the problem. Paul said to run the race marked out for us with perseverance. Our desire to race comes from our Father and we were made in his image.
I was born to race. I want to race. But my flesh causes me to race for the wrong things and in the wrong direction.
The city I live in is filled with people groups who don’t know God, who worship dead and static Gods. The city I live in is a world leader in the sex trafficing industry. The city I live in is dying. Yet I race to the store or to get the dishes done. I race towards the wrong things.
Lord teach me to race with perseverance the path you have for me. The path that brings you glory and gives meaning to this life.
Race.....
I am linking up to Five Minute Friday!

Let us all race into HIS arms today.

As I'm reading this I'm thinking, for some reason, about the Beatles song,, "Slow Down". You may be too young to remember that, but that is good advice, not necessarily to listen to the Beatles, but to slow down. Having had open heart surgery last year slowing down is not an option for me. And believe me for us A types you might as well tell us to cut off our hands and legs. I know the feeling. I have also raced after a lot of the wrong things. Thanks for reminding me what Paul's race is all about and how I'm to race.
