Kinda funny seeing as how this time around, getting pregnant really IS a business transaction. But that is way too deep of a thought at 4:30am!
So here I am, 5 years later, and I'm trying to get pregnant again. Only this time it has nothing to do with hormone levels or ovulation monitors but everything to do with PAPERWORK!
Our homestudy is scheduled for this Wednesday and I cannot believe how much paperwork there is to complete. I kinda just thought the social worker would come to our house...take a look around...ask us some questions and make sure we weren't mass murderers or anything. Umm...not so much!
Sitting on my coffee table are 15 pages of questions that must be answered by both me and my man before the social worker knocks on our door on Wednesday evening. Here are some of my favorites along with my own commentary:
- What do you want to change most about your spouse? (really, cause are you trying to get us in a fight?)
- Describe any disagreements you have had and how you resolve them regarding In-laws, money, commuication, etc. (huh? Surely I didn't hear you correctly. You said you want me to write down on paper everytime we have had a disagreement? For the last 9 years? Surely you jest!
- Have you ever had prior psychiatric or psychological treatment? Please describe. (silence...crickets chirping...my mind goes blank. For real? Ask me another question because you don't really want to know the answer to this one...I promise!)
- Are you more like your mother or your father? Please describe. (I'm sorry, what does this have to do with adopting?)
But speaking of the number 180... this week I not only have 180 questions to answer but I also have 180 cookies to make for a wedding. Yikes! No pressure or anything!

| These are not the wedding cookies but aren't they cute? |
Say a prayer for me cause' this could be a tiring week. Only one oven, only one of me and only a mere 180 cookies. All baked, decorated and shipped to Florida by next week. No problem.

Good Luck - - maybe you should give yourself a treat every time you complete a question -- I find Hersey kisses work well for this or pretzel M&Ms (have you tried those -- amazing!)
ReplyDeleteTake some deep breaths...you WILL get through it. (I can say that because ours is DONE!)
