We Are a Family on a Mission

I might just have to brag on my family.  I love their hearts.  I want to be just like them.

We are saving money to bring Natasha home for Christmas.  It's turned into yet another fundraising project that the whole family leans into and calls their own.  We are a team.  We have a goal.  We WILL win!

Sydney's been saving her money to buy a new set of Lego Friends.  And when I say saving…I mean scrounging.  Chip has taught her to forage for change anywhere she can.  So the two of them…they have a monthly game of searching the house for loose change. Under the cushions, in the car, in pant pockets.  It's their thing.  I don't get it.

But nonetheless her jar of change is growing.  And with the birthday money she just received the new set of Lego Friends were in sight.  She had saved enough!

But without hesitating.  Without thinking twice.  Without looking back.  She gave it all away.

Sydney chose to give up her dream of a new Lego Friends set so that an orphan could have a home for Christmas.  Sydney donated every last penny of her savings jar to our Natasha fund.

I learn so much from my kids.  Sydney gave all she had.  Every last penny.  And she did it with a smile.

We are $25.98 closer to bringing Natasha home.  I have no doubt we will get there.  But I wonder if there isn't a dream or two that I need to let go of in exchange for a God-sized dream?

Oh and one more thing.  We are redefining heart throb at my house.

The hubster?  He recently (as in last week) sold his one and only electric guitar.  And if you know him, you know that the selling of said guitar would be likened to selling a first born child! I wasn't sure what to make of it.  Had he gone mad?  Was he depressed?  Were we in some huge financial crisis that I wasn't aware of?

Turns out, it was just a man giving up giving to God his small time dreams in exchange for a God sized dream.

We are now $1,200 closer to bringing home Natasha.  Speechless.

It's the power of a family mission.  It's the power of a family working together. It's the power of God in the heart of a family.

If you would like to create a mission for your family…will you consider bringing an orphan home for Christmas?  Will you risk it all and let God have his way with your family?

Please visit www.newhorizonsforchildren.org to view the list of waiting children.  There are so many children that are still waiting to be chosen.  If you don't do it who will?

If you are unable to host an orphan this Christmas but are able to give financially please consider helping us bring home Natasha.  You can donate HERE at our family webpage.
