...oh yeah, I live in Houston. NEVER gonna happen! (Today the high was something like 98 degrees, no lie)
Nonetheless, I was inspired (by the calendar) to get started on my fall decor. Check out the new wreath on my front door.
I hope this picture does the wreath justice. In person, I promise it is too die for! And the best part was that is was way easy to make. I took the whole concept of the monogrammed wreath that is being shown in all of the magazines. So I took that idea and just spiced it up a bit. I took my old wreath from last year and I added pheasant feathers. The feathers add a flair for drama , the "ohh and aghhh" factor. (I really had bought them for Christmas, but I just couldn't wait any longer!)
And instead of just a black or gold letter M, I added the always classic yet sassy leopard print! I think it makes it a little more personal, it says "wow a cool girl must live here!" Well at least that is what I like to think anyways!
I was way happy with the way it turned out! I get all warm and fuzzy inside when I look at it. And who cares if I paid way more for the feathers than I should have...it was worth it. And who cares if I went to Hobby Lobby later that same week and found pheasant feathers for a fraction of the cost, I am still happy with my purchase. You can't see it in this picture, but up-close the feathers have some sparkle with a metalic look to them. It is over the top!
And here is the best part. Now when people look at my front door, hopefully they will see something beautiful instead of something that is in need of major repair.
You can't tell can you? You can't see all of the stain and varnish coming off of the door? And I know you can't see the big piece of metal duct tape that my husband put on the window because a rock shattered it? And for sure you can't tell that yours truly painted over said metal duct tape with black craft paint. It was the only way to keep from blinding the neighbors with the intense glare it was giving off!
Nope I am pretty sure that all you notice is my wreath! Or that is what I will choose to believe!
What are you doing to spice up your fall decor?
PS - My letter M is just one of the cardboard letters from the craft store. And the leopard print is scrap book paper that was mod podged over top of the wood letter. And don't think for one second that I was the one that glued the leopard paper to the letter M. Cause' I still hate to glue. I still refuse to do it. (thanks Jenn!)

Hello lovie!!
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad I found you on here.
How are you?
I absolutely ADORE your wreath, and I have been on the search wagon for a darling one just like it for weeks now. You are such an inspiration, I totally feel like I could take an old wreath and add some pizzaz to it (and hope) and make it fresh and fun again! Thank you so much for sharing.
Hope all is well.
Are you involved in the MOMS group this season? I haven't seen you if you are!
Hugs. XOXO
I am partial to my work, so of course I think it looks great. No, really you did a great job.
