Things I Wish I Had Known...

Today marks day 16 of being cooped up in my house due to some type of sickness in my family!  Last week it was me...I was suffering from some crazy sinus infection which led to migrains which led to me needing two rounds of steroids (the jury is still out on whether or not it worked!).  But for the last 7 days, my three year old has been stuck in our house suffering from an ear infection, high fever (103 to be exact) and even one whole day of throwing up!

Don't you wish you were coming over for dinner or perhaps a cup of tea?  It would be so much fun!

But oh how I wish I had talked to my friend Annette last week....I might have been able to have you over for tea.

Annette is a friend from church and I like to say she is like an onion.  Everytime you think you "know her" another layer gets peeled back!  She has been a truck driver, EMT and now teaches biology at a low income middle school.  She was once homeless (literally) and she met her husband Henry on E Harmony.  Her background is as eclectic as I would imagine a Paris Flea Market to be!

So without further ado...here are some remedies Annette shared with me on how to reduce a fever!

  • Pickle Juice.  Apparently the vinegar and salt help fevers to go down and low and behold wouldn't you know...my daughter loves pickles.  Totally could have tried that one!

  • Warm Water and a bit of rubbing alcohol mixed together work magic to reduce a high fever.  Simply wet a wash cloth and rub on the face and neck!

For my sinus infection she recommended:
  • Making a steam facial out of hot water, lemon and salt.  Simply put a towel over your head and the bowl of water and breath in.  But be careful not to burn yourself!

That's all the news from my house.  Can you tell I am about ready to go crazy?
