Gosh, where to begin? I think the thing that stands out most in my mind is the total desperation & the deep dark hole you were in. I remember the 11 PM calls where there were so many tears & the daytime calls when your voice was empty & hollow. We spoke many, many times of why God would allow this to happen & many, many times about the value of your life - you really questioned it. Your deepest hope was to be able to care for your daughter & to be normal again. Of course, there was also the struggle of where to find help & which way to turn. How would we know if you were getting the right treatment? How bad should it get? How long should it take? All of these were things we discussed & struggled over. We cried out to God & believed in faith (hoping for what we could not see) that you would be restored. The thing that seemed to encourage you the most when you were most desperate & alone was to find the TRUTH in God's word...and even though it did not SEEM to be true, in spite of everything you were able to hold on to "the pin prick of light" of hope that God's word WAS true even though it didn't feel like it.
I praise God all the time for the miracle of your restored health! :) xoxo
Here are a few of the verses we meditated on:
This was my great-grandmother’s favorite psalm. She died at the age of 90 having prayed every night for her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren by name. When she died, her pastor was reading this to her – she came out of her stroke-induced coma, rolled over, looked at him & smiled, and took her last breath to these words…
Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
